about me who am i | September 15th 1976 my name is Bart Kluskens (alias Brrt / Klush) and I was born in the Netherlands. Already early in my life I showed a lot of interest in nature (biology) and laboratory science, so I decided to study general lab science and biochemistry after which I finally obtained a BSc degree in Toxicology. The last year of my studies I spent overseas doing one of my internships at the institute CSIR, dept. Environmentek in Pretoria – Republic of South Africa. Those were a wonderful 6 months of experience and a period of exploration. At that time I also decided to learn S.C.U.B.A. and joined the Open Water- and the Advanced Open Water course at Reef Divers. They introduced me to the deep Indian Ocean waters (South Africa's Sodwana Bay and Moçambiques Ponta Malongane). Ever since diving is one of my biggest leisure activities and I have developed an enormous passion for marine life. I planned course after course to become a well certified diver and to eventually combine hobbies with my recent profession - scientific researcher (aquatic) environmental toxicology / marine biology at WWF Cambodia. Then I started to capture the fascinating underwater-wildlife on film but with a crappy disposable it is no fun and the subject on the pictures is hard to identify. Time to explore the digital world. Nowadays, after I sold my Nikon CP990, I am using a Canon Powershot A620 and several accessories to create nice memories in this digital scrapbook. Besides experimenting with my camera and scubadiving I am also active in several outdoor activities such as hiking (trekking), snorkelling, mountaineering (rock-climbing), biking and I like to listen to hardcore-punk music (modernlifeiswar - JR fucking Ewing (RIP) - As We Fight - Alexisonfire - Dead Poetic etc.). I like to expand my horizon on whatever crosses my path. I've created this site to share some of the pictures I have shot so friends, family and who ever is interested can see what I have been doing lately.......enjoy. |
